Job Description

Under the direction of the Department Manager, provide engineering support by planning, directing and coordinating the design, manufacture, testing, quality and inspection associated with the manufacturing of initiators in the air bag industry.

Experience in robotics is a must, specifically Fanuc, Yamaha and Epson.

Must have experience designing programming, fabrication and installation of control systems.

Ability to problem solve and support continuous improvement activities.

Ability to effectively interact with other engineers, technicians and other cross functional team members in performing work assignments.

Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, work flow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.

Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

Develops, recommends and maintains process documentation.

Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

Applies statistical methods to design and improve manufacturing methods.

Design automated equipment and troubleshooting processes.

Previous process/controls (Allen Bradley PLC) system development or product launch experience is preferred.

Evaluates and implements cost savings opportunities for the equipment and facility. Prepares capital appropriation request and justification for equipment as required. Have knowledge of computer network systems.

Must maintain a good understanding of leading edge technology.

Experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs with an emphasis on the Control Logix platform utilizing Ethernet IP, control panel design, and industrial integration.

Good equipment/electrical troubleshooting skills required.

Must have the ability to interpret and markup electrical schematics. Proficiency using Solid Works is a plus.

Perform other duties as may be assigned

Preferred Requirements/Job Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Three to five years work experience in robotics and controls is preferred.
