Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Shift Mechanic to join our Ashland LLC business at our Calumet City, IL. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Maintenance function. This position will report to Maintenance Manager.

As a Shift Mechanic, you will be an individual contributor working in a fast-paced environment performing various duties such as supporting operations and maintenance of plant utilities including boilers, wastewater treatment, chillers, cooling towers, and air compressors. The successful candidate will safely perform routine maintenance activities on process equipment including pumps, agitators, and valves. Additional duties include the operation of fork lifts to move materials and supplies in the plant, to maintain their work areas and to report accurate inventories and supplies to management for efficient cost control.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Must be willing to work rotating shifts including weekends in a 24X7X365 operation

* Must be computer literate to allow for completing work orders in the maintenance database system and to complete computer-based training

* Strong work history that demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude

* Good communication skills

* Self-motivated, positive attitude, and team player

* Must be authorized to work in the United States

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

* Previous maintenance/mechanical experience preferred

* Safe driving experience, fork-lift certification a plus

* One year certificate from a college, technical school or equivalent experience and training
