The Director, Public Relations will drive the development and implementation of strategic communications and outreach for the AES Indiana. Reporting directly to the Chief Public Relations Officer, US Utilities, this position is responsible for increasing the utilities engagement with the media and key external stakeholders to build the companys reputation through the strategic campaigns. This individual will serve as spokesperson for AES Indiana.

Responsibilities:

* Lead the development and implementation of a fully integrated media strategy for the utility

* Serve as an advisor and partner to the business on media relations and crisis communications

* Build editorial calendar for AES Indiana working with key internal departments

* Create and manage strategic communications campaigns, including the development of key messaging, target audiences, tactics and implementation

* Draft press releases and create supporting content

* Cultivate strong relationships with the media and serve as the spokesperson for AES Indiana

* Respond to media requests for information

* Identify opportunities to build the utility reputation and lead proactive outreach efforts

* Monitor press coverage and recommend opportunities for increased message reach

* Set up and track media monitoring

* Stay ahead of emerging media trends and channels, and update strategy accordingly

* Oversee and support partnerships with external organizations that raise awareness of AES Indianas initiatives in the community

* Manage other external communications and marketing efforts as required

* Help to facilitate two-way communication and feedback sharing between the global and local teams

* Engage with and ensure coordination with other Communications practice areas such as Brand Marketing, Internal Communications, Creative Services, Digital, and Brand and Culture Development as needed

* Share best practices across the global Communications team

Qualifications:

* BA or BS with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience

* Business acumen with ability to understand complex issues

* In-depth understanding of the companys strategy and direction for the future

* Ability to think creatively and innovatively

* Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving and organizational abilities, big picture thinker

* Strong project management, organizational, strategic planning, analytical, creative and interpersonal skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Pro at building effective relationships and influencing people

* Proven ability to be a global team leader and player

* Approach to work should be take charge, proactive, and very detailed-oriented
