Purpose

* The Associate Director of BTS and his/her organization, provides leading IT solutions, services and expertise that drive operational efficiencies, global pilot capabilities and the strategic roadmap for the Corporate Responsibility, Brand, Communications (CRBC) and Business Services Group (BSG) within AbbVie
* He/she develops a deep understanding of the business through the creation of partnerships with the appropriate business and BTS organizations and uses this knowledge to define and execute a business-driven IT vision and strategy within guidelines and standards.
* The Associate Director of BTS establishes and maintains strong partnership with the appropriate functional business leaders and BTS
* The Associate Director of BTS delivers portfolio visibility and execution of IT across the organization
* The team reporting into this role performs all projects for the appropriate business organizations and contributes to establishing a solid governance process that, in partnership with the business, will decide and deliver the strategic roadmap for the business areas

Responsibilities

* Accountable for delivery of Business Technology Services for Corporate Responsibility, Brand, Communications and Business Services Group within AbbVie
1. Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
Build business relationships and understand business strategy and needs.
Influence business partners to ensure business alignment, roadmap and priorities, harmonization of processes and consistency across organization
Development and alignment with strategic roadmap
2. Release Management:
Process to capture, prioritize and approve change requests from customers
Process to implement change requests (end to end & from transactional to reporting)
Ensure adherence to IT Compliance, IT Security and Data privacy processes and standards
Process to handover to Application Center of Excellence (App CoE - operations)
3. Project and budget Management:
Overall project management to develop, deploy and maintain business related projects
Overall management and coordination of IT resources (internal and external) in collaboration with the PMO
Planning and budgeting for his/her area of responsibility
4. Delivery of Value in coordination within business and BTO:
Managing Return on Investment and Total Cost of Ownership over continuous system lifecycle
Able to drive business value from applications and determine best solution fit
Ensuring adequate monitoring and delivery of the operational services by partnering with App CoE
Ensuring adequate communication and coordination with the other BTOs
* Resource Management:
Responsible for talent/people development (e.g., hiring, developing, rotating, R&R).
Align BTS resources s according to business priorities
Enable development of talent
Manage BTS resources within authorized levels and approved budgets
Build/maintain a strong BTS organization comprised of complementary & diverse skills and building for the future.
* Supervisory / Management Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of IT will manage directly a team of ~ 4 people leaders with direct reports and a significant number of external resources (Managed Services, Contractors, Project resources, etc.) variable depending on workload.

Qualifications
Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree with 9 years' experience; Master's Degree with 8 years' experience; PhD with 4 years' experience. MBA preferred.
* 1-2 years supervisory and employee development experience. 2-3 years strategic IT planning experience.
* Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage change and encourage innovation.
* Experienced in leading IT and business into new technologies and open to new ideas.
* Experienced in leading and organizing project teams and working across organizational boundaries.
* Experienced in working in a regulated business (e.g. experience with validated software related to pharmaceutical products).
* Experience with specific business-related applications, BananaTag, Unily, Communications tools, Adobe Experience Manager, Web Development and/or electronic promotional material development (closed-loop marketing, web sites, portals, iPad apps, etc.).
* Experienced in translating organizational strategic and tactical business plans into IT strategic and operations plans.
* Strong business and financial acumen required. Possess an executive presence with the ability to influence and advise executive leadership as well as justify and lead multi-million dollar programs.
* Must be comfortable with ambiguity; demonstrate problem solving and creative thinking skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively and interactively with all levels of management.
