DESCRIPTION
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The Kuiper team is looking for a Electrical Engineering (EE)/Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Manufacturing Engineering Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that the electronics and PCBA sub-assemblies within the Kuiper Satellite and payload systems, customer terminals and gateway terminal systems are manufacturable and successfully delivered during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, followed by a successful transition into High-volume production (HVM).
The ideal candidate will have 10-20 years experience in electronics/PCBA development and manufacturing, preferable including satellite avionics, RF communication products, complex consumer electronics products, or networking products. They should have good business acumen and judgment, analytical abilities, strong technical skills in PCB/PCBA design and manufacturing, superior written and verbal communication skills, and most importantly, a proven record of developing and ramping electronic assembly products into HVM. They should have a strong bias toward data driven decision making, be comfortable with ambiguity and juggling multiple projects, and be able to work cross-functionally in a growing and developing organization.
Specifically, in this role you will:
Develop the Kuiper Manufacturing engineering capability and work across design teams, supplier management, and quality to ensure Kuiper PCB/PCBA sub-assembly designs are manufacturable and aligned to our supply-chain capabilities, including developing and controlling manufacturing processes as needed
Ensure a robust Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) process is in place for PCBA and EE sub-assembly designs
Work across design and supply-chain to define PCBA sub-assembly Bill-of-Materials (BOM), Approved Vendor Lists (AVL) and component multi-sourcing strategy
Work across the Kuiper organization to define the PCBA sub-assembly manufacturing test strategy for NPI and volume production, including manufacturing test requirements, test HW and SW development plans, alignment to product validation and integration plans, and to final satellite assembly requirements.
Work with Supply-chain and Technical Program Management team (TPM) to drive HW deployment to R&D teams during NPI phase, and define mechanism for internal team support function for PCBA HW related issues
Manage the EE team HW configuration management process and Change Control Board for ongoing HW revision control
Own and develop the EE team design tools and processes, including alignment to the over-riding Kuiper PLM life-cycle system for BOM management, product design database, etc.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
