Job Description To perform operations throughout the store in order to learn the requirements of the job and to assist store management in developing and implementing strategies to achieve maximum sales and earnings. Also, assist store management in the development and training of all store employees, so that compliance with all company standards and policies will be met.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Responds to and assists customers in a friendly, prompt, and courteous manner and implements and enforces company standards for customer service.
* Learns and assists in departments throughout the store to gain an overall understanding of the operations of the store.
* Learns all opening and closing procedures for each day of store operations.
* Learns to communicate, supervise, and follow up on tasks assigned to employees.
* Attends company meetings for purposes of training and development, coordination plans, and communicating policies and procedures.
* Assists management in the implementation of all basic and seasonal programs.
* Learns proper merchandising of product by understanding and following schematics and merchandising protocol. Participates in all store activities to maximize sales, earnings, and customer satisfaction in the store.
* Learns labor coverage needs for departments based on an analysis of current and projected sales and market conditions, and schedules employees based on those needs.
* Learns proper inventory levels in departments and establishes procedures for maintaining proper inventory levels.
* Follows Company policies and procedures.

Physical Environment
* Ability to frequently reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination are necessary.
* Exposure to approximately 150 degrees Fahrenheit while handling products in hot cases, 35 degrees Fahrenheit while handling products in cold cases, 28 degrees Fahrenheit while handling products in cooler and -20 degrees Fahrenheit while handling products in freezer. Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment.
* Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
