What You Will Be Responsible For:
Reviews the patients Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and obtains only necessary information that assures timely entry of admits, discharges, diet order accuracy, medical nutritional supplement order accuracy, and food allergy/restrictions compliance.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Enters and updates patient information, admissions, discharges, diet orders, food preferences, supplement orders, likes and dislikes into the Foodservice Suite Computerized Software program.
Visits patients to obtain food meal orders for breakfast, lunch, supper meals, and between meal snacks as needed, honoring and complying with all physician ordered therapeutic and mechanically altered diets.
Assists Dietitians w/ patient diet screening by communicating concerns regarding meal consumption, NPO/clear liquid/Full liquid diet orders for 5-7 days, and any patient stated concerns/requests.
Prints daily tray tickets and select menus for all admitted patients on all medical floors, reviewing tickets prior to tray assembly for accuracy.
Performs menu editing tasks as assigned and approved by the Registered Dietitian.
Assembles daily meal production Tally sheets for food production personnel.
Ensures budget compliance when stocking work stations and patient floor kitchens with necessary food and nutrition supplemental items, assigns costs to cost centers.
Assembles, delivers, collects patient food service trays, assisting w/ meal service tasks for patients and families as requested, in accordance w/ infection control, OSHA, and HIPPA policies and procedures.
Communicates w/ Nursing diet order changes and meal intakes by completing % food consumption records for Nursing documentation in the EMR.
Performs basic nutritional screening by recording patient meal intake and reporting to Nursing for documentation in the Electronic Medical Record.
Completes patient Rounding tasks daily or as assigned, and documents in the Rounding software.
Maintains a good working relationship both within and with other Departments.
Observes infection control practices at all times.
Performs in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health errors.
Attends Departmental Meetings, follows Department policies and procedures at all times, and assists as requested in foodservice tasks as assigned by the Food and Nutrition Services Manager, Foodservice Supervisor, or Lead Clinical Dietitian.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School graduate or GED
Foodservice experience beneficial but not required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Diet Technician Certification (DTR)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional Languages preferred.
Job Summary:
On an as needed basis, assists patients w/ menu selection, enters menus into CBORD; assures compliance w/ physician ordered diets; assembles, distributes, retrieves patient trays and documents meal consumption; communicates patient intake/diet and supplement information to the RD staff when necessary; stocks patient floor refrigerators and MD Lounges when assigned, completes rounding tasks.
