You Will Be Responsible For:

* Patient Cooks, prepares, and seasons soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foods for consumption in the patient food station.
* Has the knowledge needed to review recipes and prepare food for sixteen different diets
* Demonstrates the skill to interpret recipes for IDDSI diets for patients with swallowing, chewing and intestinal problems.
* Utilize special tallies to support fluctuating cooking amounts daily
* Demonstrate the skill set needed to anticipate changes in volume based on the menu of the day.
* Reviews menu and special diet orders to determine the type and quantity of food items to be prepared
* Plates food during meal service times for 140 patient three times a day within 90 minutes.
* Follows cooking schedule and ensures food is ready at specified times. Confers with Supervisor personnel regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
* Prepare food in accordance with all governmental, sanitary, and dietary regulations as well as established policies and procedures
* Informs manager of any equipment malfunctions, problems with food quantity or quality, inefficient procedures or workflow, and supplies department with forms comply with personnel
* Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Knowledge about working in the food industry and specifically patient feeding
* Ability to cook precisely and efficiently. Should be able to make decisions and multi-task under pressure
* Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English and understand food service terms
* Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

* * Training and experience with preparing patient and specific diets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* High School Education or equivalent
* One year of specialized cooking experience with patient food

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

* * Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field, or combination of High School degree and related experience
* Two years of specialized cooking experience with patient food

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

* May be required to obtain and maintain state specific certifications
