Description:
Responsible for controlling all work operations performed in assigned stockroom with duties including receiving, storing, binning and disbursing of all designated stock items. Maintains sufficient quantity of material and parts on hand, along with accurate stockroom records. Takes necessary precautions to prevent damage to parts and materials. Makes certain that items are binned properly, that suitable protection is given to machined surfaces and that parts are wrapped to prevent damage. Maintains service with shop on all requests for parts and material. Corrects errors in quantity, material and/or part issued and adjusts difference in records. Reviews and maintains constant follow-up of tooling, production or test items in the manufacturing or test process or items to be released for fabrication, assembly or test. Examine items scheduled or in process at work center for manufacturing, test or inspections steps material requirements, parts and assemblies test or inspection tools or equipment, job folders, process plans, released engineering, change orders, production, test or inspection operations, etc. Performs in addition to the above duties, any operation of manual or powered handling equipment, handling and carrying of parts or material as required by manufacturing control demands or personnel availability. Interface and coordinate with other sections/departments to resolve problems and discrepancies.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience in material, receiving and inventory accountability.
Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to operate overhead cranes and hoisting equipment, walk behind fork trucks, electric carts, hand or electric pallet movers, weighing or counting scales, climb up and down ladders and stairs.
Must be able to read and understand and apply standard procedures.
Knowledge in basic math and computer skills.
Be able to work from verbal or written instructions.
Must be able to pass a pre-hire physical.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security level of public trust in order to work on the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility.
