This position is responsible for the finishing of machine parts to close tolerance using various hand tools and power equipment including the setup and operation of drill press, portable hand routers and various types of metal cutting saws in the fabrication of machined parts, castings and forgings. Also includes the installation of bushings and bearings and fitting and bolting parts into subassemblies. Additionally includes the setup and operation of remote controlled heavy duty power saw used in cutting various types of metals.

This position will plan the sequence of operations and method of setup to hand route large complex machined parts and panels where the configuration of the part involves compound contours, irregular surfaces where extreme care and a high degree of skill is required on the part of the worker to hold required finishes and tolerances, and where no tooling exists, investigates and resolves methods.

This position will perform typical operations like precision drilling, drilling and reaming holes to size, pressing bushings, reaming bushings to size, ringstaking bearings and lapping threads. Removes broken taps and drills and installs helicoil inserts. Tools used: Hand files, rotary files, scrapers, brushes, scales, counter-sinks, counterborers, drill bits, saw blades, abrasive cutting wheel, and burnishing tools and other required hand tools; precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, various types of gauges, calipers, squares, rulers, protractors, check fixtures and leveling devices.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with Hand finishing machined parts.

Experience with Measuring tools used in measuring aerospace machined parts.

Experience with reading Blueprints and using electronic work instructions.
