Software Engineer

Position Overview

The Foundational Services Teams within Mastercard's Data & Services organization aim to provide common, high-performance, and easy-to-use solutions for cross-cutting concerns. We work closely with market-facing product engineering teams to help them take maximum advantage of these capabilities and to evolve our core platform to meet their needs and the needs of our customers.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is excited to engage deeply with the core technologies we use, design and implement robust and secure common code, and create a great development experience for other engineers through libraries, APIs, and tooling. As a member of our team, you would apply your skills to provide common code solutions for all development teams in domains like authentication, caching, serving static assets, logging, error handling, build tooling, unit and integration testing, and scheduling asynchronous work.

Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to designing, building, and testing features. There are no rigid organizational structures, and each team uses processes that work the best for that team members and projects.

Position Responsibilities:

As a part of Data & Services, you will build revolutionary products that advance how businesses all over the world seize the most value from their data. As a Software Development Engineer II within Foundational Services, you will:

* Collaborate across teams with exceptional peers who are passionate about what they do
* Design and build common code and software infrastructure that serves a broad audience and empowers developers to rapidly build high quality, secure applications

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

* Deep understanding of one or more programming languages/technology stacks (our deep understanding is in .NET and TypeScript)
* You gravitate towards understanding the ins and outs of the tools you work with vs. just using them for the task at hand
* Flexibility to learn and work in different parts of the stack
* Experience having worked with and designed common code and/or other software infrastructure
* Experience having worked on system design problems
* Knowledge of application security principles and best practices
