Job Description Director Finance Residential Sales

Primary Objective:

The Director of Finance plays a major role in the development of Mohawk Industries five-year strategic plan and ensures that the appropriate methods are in place to track volume, profit and other key metrics to running the business and making critical, time-sensitive decision. This role also provides critical support to the Residential Sales division and directs finance and accounting activities in support of key selling channels such as Retail, Builder/MultiFamily, Home Centers, Distributors, and various flooring surfaces. Intense focus on volume, price & mix as well as gross to net controllable. The role will manage a team of four analysts successful management of the team, while also being able to independently perform critical tasks and conduct analyses, are critical to successful performance.

Major Function and Scope:

* Develop support and control structures, systems and profitability models. Analyze and make recommendations to operational strategic thinking.
* Establish financial objectives; prepare annual operating and capital budgets; prepare and update forecasts. Maintain financial performance by developing operating and financial metrics.
* Analyze results and trends and provide budget variance feedback. Review contract pricing and terms.
* Drive financial accountability throughout operating units.
* Organize, drive, and consolidate the Five Year Strategic Planning process, Annual Operation Plan, and all forecasts and other executive reporting and/or presentations, as required.
* Drive financial performance and provide earnings estimate to leadership. Suggest operational actions required to achieve financial targets.
* Guide senior executives through critical decision-making processes and assist team leads in target-setting process.
* Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to coordinate and provide guidance on strategic plans, annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Leads overall budgeting target-setting process; develops detailed budgets and financial presentations, and prepares all-inclusive analyses showing industry growth and competitive analysis trends for review with sales and product development senior management.
* Creates and implements processes and tools used in financial planning. May lead strategic planning, annual planning, and quarterly forecasting efforts. Leads review sessions for annual operating plan and forecast with senior business unit management and senior finance leadership.
* Ensures systems are consistent and integrated with the business practices they support. Identifies key issues and weaknesses, provides solutions for improvement, and manages the implementation of system enhancements.
* Analyzes competitors and market trends. Leads team in generating strategic and tactical recommendations in support of business objectives. Leads the creation of models, conducts research and analyzes actual business unit performance against targets in the operating plans, strategic plans, forecasts and sales incentive plans as applicable. Quantifies opportunities and risks and recommends alternatives. Conducts ad hoc analyses as needed to support operational decision-making.
* Performs other job accountabilities as needed to contribute to the goals of the department.

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

* Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required. Advanced degree and/or CPA certification preferred.
* 10+ years of progressively responsible related financial experience required, including budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis, and building financial models.
* Minimum of 4 years finance/accounting leadership experience. Previous management experience preferred.
* Minimum of 7 years in sales / commercial finance field with exposure to Gross-To-Net analyses, rebates, commissions, discounts, commercial agreements, etc.
* Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, statistical analysis and general business administration in order to oversee and direct accounting related functions.
* General knowledge of accounting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP)
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write reports and present information to a variety of audiences.
* Strong presentation skills, with the ability to comfortably communicate with and influence executive management.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize projects and meet multiple demands.
* Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. SAP proficiency and utilization and design of different BI reports in multiple platforms are also a plus.
* Strong strategic planning and analytical skills
* Must be able to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate solid time management and organizational skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines and schedules.
