Job Description
This role leads sales planning for Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores. Key responsibilities include leading sales forecasting and planning, providing insights and recommendations to leadership, and sharpening the skills of a high performing team. The ideal finance manager is proactive, a creative problem solver, has excellent attention to detail, and is committed to building better and continually refining existing processes. You love working with data and spreadsheets, but also love to work with people to solve complex business problems in a fast-paced environment.
A day in the life
* Collaborate with cross-functional business and finance partners to create monthly, quarterly, and annual store sales plans, including supporting funnel metrics (e.g. traffic, conversion, spend, returns)
* Develop weekly performance and monthly close storylines that are insightful and consider alternative ways of evaluating topline trends across our fleet of stores
* Anticipate future business changes, and proactively develop, socialize, and implement new or revised plans through partnership across the organization
* Lead the development of financial models and analysis to create timely, compelling, and valuable insights and recommend tactics to senior leaders that optimize financial outcomes
* Improve existing and develop new measurement tools and KPIs to support the development, execution, and measurement of JWNs strategic priorities
* Create materials that clearly and effectively communicate insights and recommendations through storytelling tools such as MS Excel, Power Point, and Tableau
* Collaborate and build credibility across the organization, where key partnerships include business unit leadership, shared service finance partners, and functional operators
* Lead a team of Financial Analysts, with a specific focus on building skills and capabilities related to managing financial processes and reporting, developing decision support analysis, and instilling financial discipline across an organization; improve team quality, productivity, documentation, prioritization, and communication
You own this if you have
* 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, modeling, budgeting, and long-term business planning
* A Bachelors degree in Finance or similar field
* Advanced financial modeling and excel experience
* Strong SQL and Tableau/Power BI Experience
* Strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives
* Experience in partnering with business leaders to develop strategic initiatives for growth and cost efficiency
* Strong analytical, modeling and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions
* Proven ability to successfully thrive in an ambiguous environment and simplify complex processes
