Northrop Grumman Space Components has an opening for an Engineering Structural amp; Thermal Analysis Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Goleta, CA.

Job Summary:

As a key strategic member of the Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Goleta leadership team, the Engineering Structural amp; Thermal Analysis Manager is responsible for the structural analysis, thermal analysis, environmental test, and delivery of deployable systems for space applications. Must be able to create, implement, improve and maintain sound engineering processes using communication, lean strategies and tactics to satisfy customer and business needs.

Structural amp; Thermal Analysis Manager for the Deployables Engineering organization, is responsible for resource management and prioritization to provide prompt response and situational resolutions to meet all Value Stream Organization (VSO) goals and objectives. The Engineering Structural amp; Thermal Analysis Manager must have a combination of industry knowledge, leadership skills, management expertise and in-depth knowledge of the structural amp; thermal analysis engineering process.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Accountable to site engineering manager for meeting the engineering Safety, Quality, Delivery, Employee performance and Cost (SQDEC) expectations of internal and external customers for direct reports and technical teams
* Develop Finite Element Models, perform static and dynamic structural analyses, and review requirements for materials, structure systems amp; subsystems.
* Develop system thermal models to predict thermal loads, impacts, and temperature margins. Perform thermal engineering tasks associated with analysis, design, and/or testing of structures.
* Document test plans and procedures
* Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews
* Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers.
* Intense focus and ownership of employee and team performance, coaching, and development to optimize current performance and prepare/support for future
* Support site engineering manager to drive and ensure discipline of processes, tools, and procedures (to include risk management) for team to successfully meet business needs
* Collaborate and coordinate with other Functions (Program Managers, Manufacturing, Quality, HR, etc.) to achieve business and SQDEC goals via sharing of resources, tools, equipment, processes, etc.

Qualification

Basis Skills and Experience:

* Bachelor 39;s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of engineering management experience required OR a Master 39;s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of engineering management experience
* Proven track record of managing direct reports of various levels and disciplines
* Excellent communication skills ndash; written, oral, listening
* US Citizenship required

Preferred Skills and Experience:

* Familiarity with spacecraft/aerospace materials experience for metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc.
* Experience with structures and mechanisms for moving mechanical assemblies such as solar arrays, booms, and other support structures and mechanisms for satellite subsystems.
* Strong knowledge in engineering systems and processes such as CAD, FEA, and GD amp;T.
* Experience with FEA analysis, preferably ANSYS or NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designs.
* Experience with at least one of the following Thermal Analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, SINDA or equivalent thermal analysis tools.
* Experience with spacecraft or subsystem thermal testing
* Detailed knowledge of mechanical design, structures, mechanisms, materials, processes and specialty analyses.
* Ability to multitask and organize/prioritize job assignments in a fast-paced and gated-release engineering development environment.
* Proven ability to create a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, sharing, and disciplined root cause problem solving. Familiarity with use and application of LEAN / PES culture.
* Ability to provide technical communication and coordination with and comfort around senior leadership.
