Remote Opportunity
Basic Purpose:
Devops Engineers are hybrid software and system engineers responsible for maintaining and enhancing Quest Diagnostics cloud footprint. As a DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for developing the efficient planning, provisioning, installation/configuration, and operations of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in a hybrid cloud architecture. As well as developing all the necessary process with guidance from architecture to facilitate above actions.
This position is unique. It will report to the infrastructure architecture team and serve as a mentor to our existing devops and newly formed cloud operations team. Working closely with Quests architecture, operational, and security teams, you will play a key role in developing new teams and processes to support Quest Diagnostics cloud applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a bridge between developers, architects and engineers to solve problems and enhance the security, reliability and performance of the platform.
Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to the infrastructure operations teams.
Automate all aspects of the technology lifecycle from deployment through to decommissioning.
Build systems that proactively monitor the security, health and performance of cloud applications.
Design and maintain CI/CD systems and processes to support smooth software releases.
Be an ambassador for the DevSecOps mindset in both technical and non-technical settings.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree BA or BS or equivalent.
Must Have:
-In depth knowledge of Azure and/or AWS services, infrastructure and functionality:
-ARM templates and CloudFormation.
-AzureCLI and AWScli
-IaaS - VMs, Storage, Networking, Images, ExpressRoute/DirectConnect, Load Balancing, Availability Sets/Zones, Scale Sets.
-Operations Management Suite (OMS), CloudWatch and Splunk
-Azure and AWS Cost Management.
-Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably AKS and/or EKS) specifically:
-Expert level knowledge of pods, nodes, deployments (blue-green, canary, rollbacks etc.), load balancers and Helm charts.
-Deploying microservices / Java REST based containers.
-Maintaining Security in a Kubernetes cluster.
-Deploying tools for container monitoring, metrics and logging.
-AWS SQS and SNS.
-Strong server administration skills (Windows, RHEL and Ubuntu preferred).
-Hands-on experience with automation, orchestration and system configuration tools (Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, BaSH, -PowerShell, Python, Terraform)
-Experience with source code management (Git and VSTS).
-Knowledge of infrastructure and application monitoring tools.
-Experience with Intelligent threat detection Azure Security Center, AWS Guard Duty, Crowdstrike
Preferred:
-Azure and/or AWS certifications
-Experience or awareness of working in an environment that handles critical patient or confidential data.
-Experience with working in DevOps teams and prior experience with automation projects (cloud or on premises).
-Experience creating infrastructure as code, including applications/servers blueprints, load balancers, networks, and other deployments.
-Experience with automating HA and DR Failovers using ASR.
-Familiarity with Azure and AWS big data solutions including HDInsight, Kafka.
-Understanding of API automation and tools integration.
-Ability to anticipate production needs and provide architectural solutions.
-Experience with user acceptance testing and environment troubleshooting.
