Raytheon is developing the next-generation global weather satellite system. The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program is developing, deploying, and sustaining the JPSS Common Ground System, which includes the Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) and the Command, Control, and Communications Segment (C3S). JPSS IDPS is seeking a highly motivated full time Mission Support Team (MST) GSE and Deployment Lead to provide technical leadership at the Raytheon facility located in Aurora, CO. This role will report directly to the IDPS IPT lead.
The MST GSE and Deployment Lead is responsible for oversight, management, coordination and execution of the full IDPS Operations and maintenance deployment effort, including planning, installation, integration, regression, delivery and operational support activities. Additionally, the lead will oversee operational system readiness and operational activities. The role will regularly interface with customers on deployment and operational issues and manage detailed integration and deployment schedules for multiple operational sites.
The leadership of the Deployment team is critical to JPSS as the deployment lead manages all of the JPSS IDPS system deployments and works with NOAA Operations, NASA Engineering, and NASA Mission Assurance to ensure the build releases are on schedule, accurate, and do not perturb ongoing satellite operations. The lead must be an excellent communicator and capable of pulling significant amounts of data together to ensure the team is functioning optimally and accurately to achieve success. The lead must also be able to effectively work cross function as the team is made up of many different experts (I.e. HW, SW, SE, INF/SA, Network, Security) to ensure success.
The individual needs to be a highly motivated, self-starter that can quickly learn/assimilate complex situations/problems, identify root cause, formulate corrective action plans, communicate effectively and drive to completion/resolution.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience
* Support Operations Activities including on-Call support for operational issues or extended activities.
* Leadership of a multi-functional team
* Technical oversight and guidance of planning, installation, integration, regression and deployment of software
* Extensive communication with the program management office and customer (NOAA/NASA)
* Follow established deployment/maintenance release processes and procedures to ensure compliance and on-time delivery
Required Skills:
* Demonstrated experience in sustainment or with maintenance release activities
* Strong integration and troubleshooting background
* Demonstrated effective communication skills with a customer and/or program management
* Organized and detail oriented to ensure proper tasking and execution of detailed tasking
* Experience with field/site deployment of software and COTS based software releases
* Supporting a 24/7 Operational Environment
Desired Skills:
* Experience with the JPSS system
* Experience with satellite ground data processing systems
* Experience with security requirements & tools
* Logistics and scheduling experience
* Experience in system administration, integration, networking or quality/mission assurance
* Willing/able to travel in the US
* Current active Passport
Education Requirements: B.S./B.A. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or a Science.
