Job Details
The Lead Data Modeler has a real passion for data design and the consistent use of data across products. Ideally, the Lead Data Modeler is an experienced enterprise software designer who is broadly proficient with software design methods and specifications. The Lead Data Modeler is also proficient with, and ever-mindful of, optimal SQL & database performance. With these skills, the Lead Data Modeler will work with the Salesforce Engineering and Product teams to oversee, as well as contribute to, the data model design, development and documentation of Salesforce products. The Lead Data Modeler will create conceptual, logical, and meta-data driven data models for operational applications covering multiple product features. The Lead Data Modeler will drive consensus and consistency across multiple product teams when they need similar data model concepts.
The candidate must have excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills. The candidate needs to work very well with others in order to be able to maintain a friendly and collaborative rapport with most anyone. The candidate should have the ability to think creatively and be able to tackle and resolve challenges collaboratively, knowing when to compromise and when not to.
Qualifications
* High aptitude in analytical and logical thinking
* Demonstrated, hands-on experience with data model design and development for OLTP relational databases (experience with Salesforce data objects is a plus)
* 10+ years data modeling experience (conceptual, logical and physical) in multiple industries
* Strong knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices including a good understanding of canonical data modeling concepts
* Strong knowledge of SQL (knowledge of Salesforce SOQL is a plus)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate at multiple levels of an organization
* Demonstrated ability to produce rigorous and comprehensible documentation artifacts
* Masters degree or a Bachelors degree with equivalent experience specializing in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, mathematics or other related scientific or technical discipline
* Experience and desire to work within a fast-paced, iterative development environment; experience with Agile development is a strong plus
Desired Skills and Experience
* Hands-on experience working on product design in a software product company is highly desired (experience in a cloud software company is even better)
* Hands-on experience on large-company enterprise information technology projects doing software analysis, design, development and deployment is desired
* Experience analyzing business and user requirements across a variety of business processes (especially CRM) and industries (especially communications, media, energy, utilities, financial services, health, manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, retail and public sector)
* Knowledge of non-relational databases (e.g. No-SQL databases, Graph databases, etc.) is a plus
* Expected to be able to use various data modeling tools and processes as required
* Able to work in multiple projects/products simultaneously
* Open minded to collaborate with various teams and be able to both give and handle constructive feedback
* Experience with BI tools and reporting software as well as data analysis and data analytics is a plus
