JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST



JOB SUPERVISOR: PLANT OPERARTION DIR./Safety Director

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: To do general maintenance work, which includes, but not limited to, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, housekeeping, fire safety, internal and external disasters, security of the facility and assist to maintain a safe work place and environment for Diamond Grove Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

* KNOWLEDGE of tasks associated with job performance.PERFORMANCE STANDARD

* Demonstrates a good working knowledge of buildings, fire safety/emergency preparedness program.
* Demonstrates a good knowledge of OSHA and JCAHO standards.
* Demonstrates working knowledge of carpentry skills.
* Demonstrates working knowledge of plumbing skills.
* Demonstrates working knowledge of HVAC skills.
* Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment.
* Always follows emergency procedures (Code 13, Fire Drills/Disaster Drills/All Emergency Preparedness Procedures.
* Supports established hospital policies and procedures, assist with maintenance/maintaining buildings, housekeeping, grounds utilities, and equipment systems.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

* MAINTAINS effective communication and good working relationship with employees at all levels of the organization. Projects excellent customer relations in all interactions.
* TAKES initiative and responsibility to obtain the knowledge and skills to improve job performance.
* Establish appropriate work habits.
* Completes work assignments within expected time frame.
* Responds positively and cooperatively to changing work environment, work demands and pressures.
* Completes daily rounds of the facility to ensure issues are operational for the employees and patients served.
* Seeks and does additional task/duties when normal work pressure decreases

* Maintains safety standards and practices.
* Is always punctual.
* Is up-to-date on all mandatory in-services.

Represents the hospital in a manner which conveys a professional, courteous, caring, and cooperative attitude. Is professional in image. Represents the hospital well as a professional in attitude and work. Makes a positive first impression.

* Is knowledgeable of Patient Rights and Psychiatric Mental Health Standards of Care and treats all patients with dignity and respects in a consistent, caring manner. Turns negative services into positive attitude. Able to reserve outcomes by looking for positive approaches.
* Understands the need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all time when interacting with patients, families, visitors and all other contacts. Treats others as guest. Acts as a host and greats others with a welcoming style.
* Exhibits excellent customer relations skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families and referral sources. Is an effective communicator. Sees that customers, doctors and others at the hospital are appropriately informed and takes directions well.

* Complies with hospital, departmental, safety and human resources policies.
* Promotes a safe work environment for self, patients and co-workers by complying with the environment of care, safety, infection control and standard precautions guidelines.
* Maintains a neat, professional appearance consistent with the hospital's dress code.
* Maintains scheduling requirements, attendance and punctuality in accordance with hospital and department policies.
* Follows unit assignment sheet completing assigned task designated by charge nurse.
* Understands the need for appropriate patient/staff boundaries and maintains a strict therapeutic relationship during active treatment. Discontinues communication with patients upon discharge. Informs supervisor of any contact after discharge.
* Seeks out sources to address ethical concerns as they relate to patient care issues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
2. A minimum of three years maintenance experience.
3. Ability to read, writes, and follows written and oral instructions.
4. Must have the physical capacity and mobility to do heavy work--pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds - over 50 pounds with assisted.
