Responsibilities

The phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients. Individuals must be proficient in venipuncture and capillary puncture. Individuals must follow laboratory policy on proper identification of patients and handling of obtained specimen. Responsibility of phlebotomist encompasses provision of care to patients age neonates to geriatrics. Individual must be willing to crosstrain to other job descriptions and float to other departments to meet the needs of the facility.

Qualifications

* One year experience as a hospital laboratory phlebotomist or graduate of an approved phlebotomy training course.
