Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting in the supervision of assigned staff in accordance with their job descriptions, maintaining a high standard of work and for timely and accurate reporting of tests in their section. Performs bench work as needed and in accordance with Policy and Procedures. Organizes and prepares specimens for analysis, performs routine analysis and reports results in a timely manner. Reports critical values according to patient age. Performs duties which may require both technical and professional judgment. Participates in and aids the Section Supervisor in developing and implementing all policies relating to quality improvement, quality control, instrument and inventory maintenance and personnel safety and productivity. May be required to evaluate and write procedures for new methods, participate in teaching, continuing education, validation of instruments or methods and other supervisory activities. May be required to supervise the entire laboratory on rotating weekends and holidays, to attend laboratory related committee meetings and to perform other such duties as required by the Laboratory Manager. Performs other related duties with a minimum of supervision. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 2 years post graduate hospital experience preferred.
2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related laboratory science.
2. Medical Technologist, either certified by National registry such as MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), or eligible to take registry exam. Registry not required
