The group includes Home Lending; Auto; Cards, Retail and Merchant Services; Personal Lending; Consumer Lending Control; and Consumer Lending Shared Services.
The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.
This Counsel position will report to the Managing Counsel for Default Servicing in the Mortgage Banking section of the Consumer Lending division. This position will play a criticial role in providing support in the areas of loss mitigation and collections.
Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
* Active State Bar membership
Desired Qualifications
* Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters
* Extensive experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters
* Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration
* Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team
Other Desired Qualifications
* Consumer lending experience with a particular emphasis on default servicing, loss mitigation, and collections.
* Ability to evaluate impacts to the supported lines of business based upon changes in laws/regulations and develop response
* Candidates must be able to assume responsibility quickly and have the ability to work in a complex environment requiring a high degree of collaboration and across multiple jurisdictions
* Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment
* The right candidate will also be capable of providing direction, guidance, training and resources to paralegals and/or applicable/relevant support staff
* Experience building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working efficiently and for the success of the team while balancing multiple priorities
* Ability to work independently, proactively, innovatively, and creatively while exercising sound judgment and following through to successful conclusions
