Commercial Banking provides financial solutions to businesses with annual sales generally in excess of $5 million. Our business lines are Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Middle Market Banking, and Treasury Management & Payment Solutions.

This position aligns to WFCC Business Control Manager and will provide support to Wells Fargo Equipment Finance/ Commercial Auto or Wells Fargo Capital Finance. The Business Control Manager will manage a team of dedicated business risk officers and as such will be the primary point of contact for leadership and line of business team members on all operational risk and regulatory compliance matters. This position will be responsible for customizing, implementing and monitoring risk based programs to identify, mitigate and control operational, compliance and financial crimes risk.

The Business Control Leader will work with the designated lines of business (LOBs) to implement and execute the required risk controls in an effective, sustainable manner and help identify, escalate and proactively manage risks in the LOBs. This Leader will report directly to the LOB Group Control Leader

Individual Responsibilities Include:

* Develop a team with a strong working knowledge of the designated LOBs and the key risk controls that apply to these LOBs.
* Develop a team that serves as the primary day-to-day coverage officers for the LOBs with proven knowledge of products, services, processes, systems and customers in these LOBs.
* Activities include: leadership meeting routines, team member engagement, key Human Resource processes, including performance and talent development/management, team communication and training, onboarding, etc.
* Build a high performing team, ensuring proper staffing and expertise exists in the group; build capabilities, processes, and teams that meet heightened risk management expectations.

This Control Leader will work closely with Senior Managers across the business groups, Control Strategy teams and with other Control Executives in the development and execution of company risk management strategies. Accordingly, critical success factors will include the ability to develop partnerships with many functional areas, lead change in a highly matrixed organization, provide insight into the regulatory climate, and identify trends which may present opportunities or reflect gaps in the Companys strategic execution/direction.

* Continuously engage in discussions with LOB partners on strategy, industry trends, organizational changes, and new/modified markets, systems, products and services, to determine impact and identify and remediate risk control issues across all risk types.
* Collaborate with, guide and counsel LOB partners on control design and implementation to mitigate risks.
* Collaborate with, guide, and counsel LOB process and control owners on identifying where controls reside, managing control changes and evaluating effectiveness.
* Collaborate with, guide, and counsel LOB partners on matters relating to the implementation of Corporate policies and Wholesale requirements.
* Help ensure proper LOB profiles of applicable regulations and associated controls as well as residual risks and compensating controls are maintained and continuously updated in appropriate systems of record on an ongoing basis.

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business units risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in risk management or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management
* 7+ years of management experience

* Audit or internal controls testing experience
* Commercial banking experience
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner

Other Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge across enterprise risk management framework, including: risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
* Understanding of best-practice risk management techniques applicable for LOBs similar to those found in the designated LOB.
* Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and understanding of how they are implemented, managed and enforced in LOBs similar to those found in the designated LOB.
* Deep technical understanding of specific business operations, processes, products, and customer interactions and where they manifest risk.
* Strong interpersonal, influencing and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and enterprise Risk function.
* Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes.
* Deep understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type.
* Demonstrated leadership ability that embodies the Wells Fargo Vision & Values and leadership competencies.
* Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate.
* Proven ability to build and lead high performing risk control organization in a matrixed environment, ensure proper staffing and expertise exists and can coach and enable others.
* Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues, escalate early and engage in constructive credible challenge and will do so independently when necessary.
* Proven ability to proactively manage and resolve conflict and effectively defend decisions with objective rationale.
* Ability to design and implement control analytics and reporting to drive effective decision making and results.
* Demonstrated ability to solve problems and analyze issues when data is collected from multiple sources and know how to ask the right questions to obtain the information needed to properly assess potential risks.
* Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the enterprise Risk function and the business
* Ability to influence business partners, including enterprise functions through networking, communication, and written products
* Ability to analyze and problem solve with demonstrated excellence at identifying stakeholders, understanding needs, and driving decision making/resolution through a consensus building approach
* Ability to implement solutions through written action plans, procedures, and change management
* Deep understanding of ever-evolving governance processes and regulatory environments
* Ability to fluently articulate strategy and operations and translate organizational strategies into clear objectives and action
* Experience working horizontally across an organization and participating in enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant risk programs
