What you will do
Under minimal direction, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, and installation, replacement of outdated equipment as well as commissioning of highly complex systems (including detailed troubleshooting). Recognized as the technical leader, coach and mentor in the local branch and area for the controls function. Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. Provides consultant level services for the customer related to building automation systems and ensures ultimate customer satisfaction levels with assigned customers. Provides consultative services and recommendations for system improvements to customers. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors lower level Controls Technicians and mechanical labor on building automation activities. Properly completes all required project and service documentation.

* Diagnoses and repairs complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
* Provides solutions to very complex control system problems by either troubleshooting the system, or advising others on how to resolve problems. Requires thorough understanding of systems software and ability to write or recommend modifications to programs as needed.
* Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all controls Technicians in the branch. Provides safety awareness and instruction to subcontractors on Johnson Controls work sites.
* Participates in assisting management with controls technician performance reviews.
* Regularly provides input on development and training issues.
* Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or repairs.
* Identifies opportunities for L&M sales. Develops quotes and estimates for the work and submits to Service Team Manager or Customer Service Agent, as appropriate.
* Identifies parts required for service delivery, including part numbers, and orders parts through centralized purchasing.
* Manages assigned work to meet professional execution, of time and customer satisfaction.
* Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with branch manager, service team manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner.
* Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
* Escalation point from the branch to the technical resource team for critical issues. Serves as an internal resource on technical issues, and viewed as an expert in given fields by both employees and customers.
* Trains the customer in control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
* Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company.
What we look for
Required
* Vocational School four year program or an Associates degree in electronics, electro-mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field or equivalent.
* Minimum of five (5) years directly related work experience.
* Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated leadership activities.
* Able to act independently and to coordinate the work of other employees and contractors on a customer site.
* Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts.
* Able to explain technical information to technical and nontechnical people. Achieved the highest level of certification on at least two different product lines produced by Johnson Controls or third party controls and integration.
Preferred
* Associate or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Internet Technology desired.
