Job Description

The Controls Systems Engineer is an Individual contributor with recognized expertise responsible for tasks and work you're doing throughout the entire vehicle development lifecycle including requirements definition, systems design and implementation, testing, and problem resolution.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

* New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/PFS design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)
* Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of PFS equipment and systems required in plants for the production of high quality parts
* Provide technical direction and oversight to outside vendor sources
* Manage deliveries to program timing milestones
* Provide project report outs to senior management
* Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)
* Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers/plants
* Create, maintain and improve PFS standardized work, processes and procedures
* Audit PFS implementations for adherence to standards
* Provide technical direction to less experienced controls and PFS engineers.
* Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems and error proofing systems
* Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology
* Travel as required

Job Requirements:

* Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment
* Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process
* Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Devicenet networks
* Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems
* Demonstrated excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
* Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
* Proven ability in project management skills
* Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems
* Self motivated and ability to multitask

Preferred Skills:

* Knowledge of Scalable Error Proofing (SEP) and Error Proofing Platform (EPP) error proofing systems
* Experience in Andon, GEPICS, GPM&C setup and programming
* General knowledge of C+ programming is preferred
* Prior work experience as a controls engineer in the automotive field
* Knowledge of GMs global controls architecture
