Job Description
In our pursuit to create a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion, GMs Global Manufacturing Engineering team is challenging the limits on what is possible and embracing agility as it reimagines how to build the next generation of vehicles. Our diverse team of Manufacturing Engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal body to finished painted vehicle, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.
In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve.
Job Description:
Work in a highly effective skilled team which includes GM vehicle systems and strategic suppliers to design and build new and reused paint shop facilities from concept to launch.
Influence the design layout of future paint shops, including coordinating throughput simulations, conveyance concepts, production capacity studies, and the interface of processing between the Body, Paint and GA processes.
Be able to present your work output to other members of the Vehicle System team, the receiving Plant and Senior Leadership.
In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve.
You will be responsible for equipment and utilities related to the manufacturing process. You will be required to use your independent discernment.
Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
Other responsibilities will include:
* You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
* Promote teamwork, participative management, lean manufacturing principles between the Project Team, Plant and Vehicle Systems Project Engineering
* Effectively interface/ communicate with all project team members, plant management, engineering, suppliers, materials, product, and finance on paint facilities planning, development, contruction issues and business practices.
* Provide lessons learned and corrective actions
* Create and implement commmon processes
* Validate layouts and equipment performance through various simulation programs.
* Understand and optimize the trade offs between cost, time and quality.
* You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
* Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
* You will keep regular contact with partners outside the work group
* You will provide direction to small group of technical employees
* You may evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
Candidate Requirements:
* 4+ years of Project Management Experience
* 4+ years in manufacturing
Bachelors degree or equilevant work experience
