Position Summary

JetBlue is looking for a Senior Analyst of Operations Strategy in NYC. The Operations Planning & Analysis team works with the Network Planning/Scheduling team and all of the various operating groups on schedule levers, crew planning levers, manpower planning, etc. with the overarching goal of optimizing the tradeoff between operability & profitability. The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of operational reliability and airline schedules, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and inter-personal skills. Essential Responsibilities

* Determine strategy for JetBlue operational reliability
* Analyze JetBlue operational performance and assess potential constraints that hinder performance
* Work with operating groups to determine requirements/buffers that would set them up for reliable performance and analyze (opportunity) cost/trade-offs of those
* Actively review JetBlues schedules to ensure agreed criteria are provided and look for opportunities to improve performance
* Produce and ensure accuracy of monthly reporting for various internal teams; create automated reports and dashboards with operational data
* Perform ad hoc operability-related projects in support of senior leadership
* Build relationships with operational partners across the system
* Support other teams including all operational divisions, Airline Planning and Finance
* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in aviation, mathematics, operational research, computer science, engineering or a related field or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma and four (4) years of previous related work experience
* Strong capabilities with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s) (such as Python or Visual Basic)
* Three (3) years of analytical experience in aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field
* Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills
* Experience communicating with senior leadership
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
* Strong written and verbal communication ability
* Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
* Must pass a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test
* Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

* Four (4) years of work experience in aviation, management consulting, or a related field
* One (1) year of work experience at an airline in Operations Planning, Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Finance
* Masters degree in aviation, mathematics, operational research, computer science, engineering or a related field
* Experience with statistical packages (e.g. R, Stata, SAS)
* Experience with optimization models, linear and integer programming and or simulation
* Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)

* Regular attendance and punctuality
* Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
* Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
* When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

* Promote JetBlues 1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlues Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
* Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlues confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
