Job Description

Facebook is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer responsible for developing and implementing world class manufacturing and quality processes for Open Compute hardware that powers the Facebook social network.
This is a full-time position and reports to the Manager of Manufacturing and Quality Engineering as part of the Sourcing and Operations Engineering team.

Manufacturing Quality Engineer Responsibilities

* Develop and implement manufacturing and test processes for Facebook open compute, storage and Machine Learning/Video hardware

* Engage the supply chain and Data Center teams as a technical resource and leader during the entire product lifecycle

* Ensure product and process quality targets are met by designing test methods, establishing standards and driving continuous improvement projects with Facebook manufacturing partners and key commodity suppliers

* Work with the global Manufacturing Quality Engineering team to drive root cause and corrective action for failures during server integration, rack production, and in the Data Centers

* Collaborate with Hardware Engineering and Manufacturers for PCBA and System Design for Manufacturability, Testability, Serviceability and Reliability

* Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, compute and storage architectures

* Support New Product Introduction builds from PCBA through DC delivery, requires some travel to Asia

* Work with product lifecycle tools to create BOMs, approve engineering change notifications, and conduct factory audits

* Support cross-functional teams with on-site development activities including planning, system bring-up, test and debug

* Implement and deliver system assembly and test solutions around purpose built ASIC modules that drive AI/ML and Video applications

* Understand intelligence and technology to make computers more intelligent in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, graphical models, and data representation

Minimum Qualifications

* BS Electrical or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience

* 5+ years experience in product development, manufacturing processes, and test/debug methodologies for server and storage platforms

* Proven knowledge of server and storage hardware architecture and technologies

* Knowledge of PCBA assembly and test processes

* Experience developing manufacturing test solutions, working with open source stress applications, and interpreting detailed test results for server products

* Demonstrated use of quality tools and methodologies in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment

* Scripting skills in Bash, Perl, or Python

* Proven problem solving and communication skills

* Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic global environment

Preferred Qualifications

* Expertise and background that spans HPC, ML/AI, and computer architecture domains

* Experience collaboration with the number of teams inside AML and AI Infrastructure

* Expertise in one or several areas of High Performance Computing, performance optimizations, numerical and distributed computing, or computer architectures

* Proven understanding in AI/ML models, assembly and test requirements from Supplier through system integration
