Job Description

Purpose of Position: Corning Communications is looking for bright, talented communications, marketing, and journalism students to join the organization as Communications interns for the summer of 2021. The Communications organization at Corning Incorporated is focused on strengthening Cornings brand and reputation globally. The organization is committed to delivering world-class communications, which are continually advanced through the sharing of best practices, the use of benchmarking and analytics, and ongoing professional development. As a member of the Communications organization, the intern will assist with a variety of communications programs to help Corning meet its objectives.

The intern will learn and develop essential digital communications skills including:

Integrated Communications Planning & Execution

Content Planning & Performance Analysis

Website analytics and reporting (Google Analytics)

Website content and asset management (CMS)

Search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM)

Process development and documentation

Responsibilities:

Assist with corporate website page design, creation, updates, optimization, and promotion

Analyze existing content performance and propose optimizations to support target audience engagement with key messages.

Assist Corning with tagging assets and content to align content performance with key messages and key audience segments.

Documentation of content and website experience update processes

Participate in team and departmental meetings, and prepare presentations about activities as appropriate (Will include a departmental presentation at the conclusion of the internship)

Support additional projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Student entering senior year of undergraduate program or first year of masters degree program desired; student entering junior year will be considered

Required Professional Skills:

Ability to work comfortably across all levels of an organization

Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements

Ability to handle many tasks, assess priorities, and meet deadlines

Ability to work as part of a collaborative team as well as competency to work independently and lead agreed upon action plans with minimal supervision

Required Technical Skills:

Experience publishing with various web content management systems and social platforms

High skill level with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work comfortably within digital environments

Desired Skills:

Project management skills with ability to organize tasks for a working team and lead status meetings to ensure plans of action are clear and barriers to progress removed.

Experience developing and proposing content

Proficiency with digital communications channels, content publishing platforms and generating insights from analytics data
