Cornings Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Position Summary:
Manage the internal HD quality specifications for the Diesel Business. Ensure that the customer requirements are understood and communicated to the appropriate internal organizations. Manage the DN quality lab and complete lot release for all products.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Supervise 8-10 direct reports including union and salaried positions
* Review and accept new product specifications into the plant. Verify that the Plant can meet the proposed specifications. Interact with Applications Engineers when specifications changes are necessary and or Plant New Product team when improved capability is needed to meet Customer Specification
* Maintain Product Specifications in the Plant I/T systems, setting up new products and change established products as necessary
* Monitor Physical Property Test results. Engage subject matter experts as necessary to determine disposition of potentially non-conforming ware.
* Act as Quality Receiver for new products, processes, and equipment
* Supervise small lab for Product Functional Testing and Lot release and monitor lab capacity and set priorities
* Develop detailed understanding of product defects to act as Subject Matter Expert, be willing to make decisions on potentially nonconforming ware taking into account Customer and Internal Specifications and be able to effectively communicate those decisions to Production Operators.
* Owner of Defect Definitions and Internal Manufacturing Specifications
* Develop understanding of Plant Systems and be able to take actions to effectively contain potentially non-conforming product
* Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
* Define and maintain Internal Manufacturing Specifications
* Ensure product lot release timing meets required ship dates
* Approve/Sign all Plant PDCs
* Approve/Sign all Plant Experiments
* Verify Impact of all Calibration Out of Tolerance (OOTs)
* Facilitate Plant Monthly Metrics review
* Supports various process improvement projects plantwide.
Educational & Experience requirements:
* Minimum of Bachelors Degree in a Technical Field (Engineering or Statistics preferred)
* 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Quality
Required Skills:
* Familiarity with Quality Systems, audits, ISO, IATF Certifications
