We are searching for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as a Principle Systems Architect to support the design, development, verification & validation, and operational support of ECLSS and ATCS hardware for future space vehicles.
The Principle Systems Architect plays a critical role in ensuring success for programs and exceeding the expectations of our customers, both internal and external. This role supports the EVA & Crew Support value Stream in leading diverse project teams during the design, development, fabrication and test of systems from concept to product delivery. The projects are challenging and require a motivated individual to interject themselves in the day to day activities of various functions. The qualified individual is a problem solver, facilitator, and is capable of operating in a Lead Systems Engineering role. Familiarity with fluid loop architecture and their components (pumps, accumulators, controllers, valves, etc) is required.
This position will provide the unique opportunity to operate in a development environment leading to flight applications. As a team, we aim to achieve increased levels of productivity, exceed our customer expectations and meet the budgetary responsibilities.
The Principle Systems Architect will provide continuous support of Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) and Active Thermal Control Systems (ATCS) for EVA & Crew Support Systems. The successful candidate will be working on several programs simultaneously with different customers and end item application. Additionally, the candidate may be responsible for leading the IPD teams consisting of Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Design, Supplier Quality, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planners, and Purchasing to drive delivery of these products within the approved budget and schedule. Principle Systems Architect will report directly to Program Chief Engineer and will play a critical role in driving project execution while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. This position requires interaction with our customers including delivery of technical documentations.
As a Principle Systems Architect you will report to the Program Chief Engineer and will be will be immersed in the following activities:
Primary Responsibilities:
* Performs architecture development, technical design, model based design, requirements development, systems analysis, systems integration, and systems verification & validation for NASA and space based products
* Drive issue resolution closures due to assembly, test and procurement challenges.
* Leads a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for program technical, cost and schedule performance
* Prior experience leading proposals, developing estimates and writing rationale for FAR 15 programs
* Escalate important issues and risks and seek resolution in a timely manner
* Integrates system activities to support the aforementioned tasks. Integration and analysis applies to the greater systems, interfaces between the systems and subsystems, and systems and components
Basic Qualifications:
* Prior experience leading proposals, developing estimates and writing rationale for FAR 15 programs
* Must be a US Citizen
* Bachelors degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR
* Advance degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR
* In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong computer skills, MS Office, Windchill, PLM
* Experience and familiarity with product qualification, and production build and test, with an expertise in low volume space qualified hardware
* Natural presence/comfortable presenting to internal and external customers
* Ability to bring team members together and work to resolve problems
* Ability to anticipate project risks and build contingency plans
* Ability to interface with both internal operations and engineering functions to facilitate assembly, test, and delivery of hardware
* Participate in preparing contract proposals, including BOE and BOM estimates
* Relevant component hardware experience: electrical systems, motors/motor controllers, electrical boards, actuators, sensors, power supplies, FPGAs
* Ability to work well both independently and within an integrated product development (IPD) team environment
* Conducts/Participates in Design Reviews, Customer Audits, Requirements Analysis and Development
* Experience performing electric system analyses
* Experience on hardware development program proposal/development/manufacture/verification/operational support
* Experience performing system development/integration/architecting/testing
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of aerospace systems development/verification is a plus
* Experience with Matlab and LabView is a plus
* An undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics is preferred. A graduate degree in the previously mentioned fields is strongly preferred.
