Job Description:

Are you a research engineer who desires to work in a collaborative team environment developing integrated hardware and software-based instrumentation that will redefine the life sciences industry?

We seek a talented individual who is analytical, creative, persistent, goal oriented and understands:

* Architecture, design, and implementation of scientific instrumentation for life sciences.
* The entire product development process from concept through transition into development.
* How to innovate and complete technology transfer to product development including creation of low fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes.

In this role you will:

* Utilize the framework of our technology development process (TDP) for technology push.
* Drive progression through technology readiness levels from proof-of-concept to functional prototype and product development.
* Be a key contributor to high impact new products.
* Create intellectual property, including work with counsel on the prosecution of IP.

Qualifications:

* Electronics: Design of low noise analog data collection systems, drivers for motors, heaters, TE coolers, sensors, digital logic, micro-controllers.
* Optical / Photonic Systems design: Fiber-optic and photonic systems, DWDM systems, optoelectronic devices (e.g. lasers, detectors, modulators), detector system selection, low light level systems.
* Firmware / Software: Architecture, OS selection, implementation in C, C++, and C.
* Data processing and control algorithms
* Fluidics-based instrumentation.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Electrical, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field with 14+ years of relevant industrial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience desired OR Masters degree in field with 12+ years of experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 9+ years of experience is desired.
