Job Description

The Apex program is looking for a senior software engineer to maintain and troubleshoot the satellite communications SW that interfaces with the mission HW. The Apex system is a ground-based mission planning and command and control software that accommodates the next-generation satellite capabilities, and implementation of new ground terminals. Our complex domain requires innovative solutions to meet evolving customer needs. On Apex you will work with teams of talented engineers to develop and improve advanced algorithms that handle large data sets with complex constraints.

Apex software engineers will gain experience with the full software lifecycle including design, development, test, delivery, and maintenance. In addition to working with other software disciplines, our developers are exposed to various technologies including multi-tiered architectures, Java, Camel, Spring, OSGi, and geospatial visualization tools. Our program is in the midst of transforming older software development practices into more modern development practices utilizing an Agile/DevOps approach - experience in this area is a plus. We provide robust and easy-to-use tools for reporting status and estimates to your agile team leadership - meaning more time for true problem solving.

This Software Engineer is responsible to:

* Develop code in compliance with requirements and defined architecture
* Support change request (CR) work-off
* Support Test Engineering for integration and test activities and events
* Participate in Change Request Review Board (CRRB), as needed
* Occasionally, provide support to operations (remotely), and
* Occasionally, provide input to cost estimation efforts for MCRs, ECPs, and proposals.

Applicant subject to a U.S. government security background investigation and must meet minimum eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship required. Current TS/SCI security clearance required.

Required Skills:

* Minimum 6 years of SW development experience using Object Oriented Analysis (OOA) and Object Oriented Design (OOD) techniques
* Minimum 3 years of experience programming in Java
* Familiarity with Unix, Linux, and or Windows Operating Systems (Linux preferred)
* Experience with Python, Perl, and/or shell scripting
* Familiarity with TCP, UDP, XML, XSD, and JMS
* Ability to work in a small team environment, high paced, with flexibility in job role
* Ability to trouble-shoot/isolate complex problems in distributed applications across complex networks

Desired Skills:

* Experience with Spring and Camel Frameworks
* Excellent communication skills
* Familiar with Secure coding practices
* Experience with Kencast and HAIPE
* C++ programming experience
* Experience and/or knowledge with Agile, DevOps and Continuous Integration process (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, SAFe, etc.)

* Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team
* Proven written and oral communication skills and problem solving skills
* Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools
* Engineering experience on a government software development contract
* Experience with complex satellite ground systems, particularly previous deployment of developed systems to ground station operations
* Experience in architecture design/development of SW centric system
* Experience with Software process lifecycle (concept of operations, requirements analysis, system design/architecture, development, integration and test, delivery, and system maintenance)
* Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or equivalent.
Required Education:
Bachelor's of Science in a STEM discipline from an accredited University.

In compliance with Colorados Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $86,500 to $160,000; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, education/training, and key skills
