Basic Job Functions:

The Power System Technician is responsible for the maintenance, operation, selection, installation and upgrade of all Power distribution systems. This system includes but not limited to SVC+, Reactors, EAF/LF transformers, breakers, relays and switchgears, Arc Regulation, 13.8KV switch gear and all associated downstream transformers and switchgears at Nucor Steel Sedalia. The Power System Technician will provide technical expertise to the maintenance and production teams through project leadership, predictive and preventative practices and hands on capabilities. He/She will have an active role with Nucors Power Engineer group to ensure best practices and reliability of all plant wide electrical systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

* BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience in the electrical field
* Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime

Preferred Qualifications:

* Melting, casting, or rolling process knowledge/experience.
* Experience with short circuit studies including relay coordination, arc flash analysis, transient analysis, and harmonic analysis.
* AutoCAD capability and experience programming microprocessor relays.
* Equipment upgrade, installation, and commissioning experience

The Raw Materials segment produces direct reduced iron (DRI); processes ferrous and nonferrous metals; brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron, DRI, and hot briquetted iron; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, as well as engages in the natural gas drilling operations. This segment sells its ferrous scrap to electric arc furnace steel mills and foundries for manufacturing process; and nonferrous scrap metal to aluminum can producers, secondary aluminum smelters, steel mills and other processors, and consumers of various nonferrous metals.

The company offers its products through its in-house sales forces; and internal distribution and trading companies. The company was founded in 1940 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
