Purpose

Newmont is seeking a Senior Industrial Hygienist to manage the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine industrial hygiene and occupational health program. This role reports directly to the CC&V Health and Safety Manager with daily coordination and interaction within a high-performance Health & Safety team, and frequent coordination with Newmonts Director of Health & Hygiene.

Essential Duties

* Manage Industrial Hygiene functions at the site including: Air monitoring, Biological Monitoring, Medical Surveillance, Audiometric Testing, Respiratory Protection, Job Capability Studies and maintain required records. Collect samples in accordance with acceptable industrial hygiene policies and practices. Be familiar with and conform to all Newmont Mining Corporation policies and procedures and IH standards. Record events and circumstances contributing to exposure results.
* Responsible for managing and ensuring a high-quality system to minimize risk to the company by identifying, evaluating, monitoring and controlling occupational health hazards at the mine site.
* Conduct workplace health risk assessment surveys to determine the IH plan for the workforce and work areas. Follow up on IH OH related corrective action items to ensure actions have been implemented and are effective.
* Serve as a resource for information on industrial health and respond to employee and management concerns where there may be a health issue.
* Conduct training on Industrial Hygiene topics.
* Report IH monitoring results to employees.
* Make determinations based on IH data and prepare reports for management review with recommendations where required.
* Ensure compliance with MSHA and report IH results internally and to MSHA as required.
* Coordinate with external labs to obtain sample media and submit samples for analysis. Work directly with contract labs to ensure samples are collected in a manner that facilitates correct analysis and chain of custody is followed
* Perform special IH projects as assigned. Research toxicology and epidemiology information for any hazards identified at the mine.
* Provide recommendations to management in developing site and department IH/OH strategy and controls.

Training & Experience

* Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets, databases & word processing programs.
* Advanced understanding of IH concepts and theory.
* Ability to apply judgment and knowledge to suggest solutions to complex problems. Recognize patterns and relationships when analyzing information.
* Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with diverse groups and personalities.
* Thorough understanding of mining terminology and operations for area of responsibility.
* Self-confident, motivated, and strong leadership and organizational skills.
* Excellent knowledge of MSHA safety & health regulations.
* Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of IH or related experience, OR six (6) years related experience
* Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certification is preferred but not required

Working Conditions

* This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor Mine Site near Cripple Creek, CO.
* The work environment is located above 10,000 ft. which requires working at high altitude.
* The successful candidate must pass a high-altitude medical assessment prior to being offered employment at Cripple Creek.
* Work Hours are based on a 40 Hour week, 10 hours per day, Mon Thurs.

The salary range offered for this role is $75,700 - 99,300. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidates salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the companys performance and their own individual performance.
