Job Overview

Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee's responsibility to fully support this vision. The Technician Team Leader position will play a critical role in leading a Zero Loss Culture. The role will have overall responsibility for the systems and results of their shift line team and owns the development of their team's technical and leadership capability. At a minimum, 70% of the role will be spent on team leader responsibilities to build a multi-skilled and self-sufficient autonomous team the remainder of the time will be spent learning the equipment.

The General Mills-Belvidere, IL plant is a high performing, multi-platform facility with 550 employees leading the safe, high quality production of a wide range of products. The site operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

This is a NIGHT SHIFT (6 pm - 6 am) position, on a 3-2-2 work schedule with additional overtime as needed.

The starting pay rate for a Technician Team Leader position is a minimum of $23.00 per hour with a pay for skill compensation program.

Responsibilities:

* Strong leadership modeling the Engaging Leaders Behaviors
* Owns development of their technician team to identify, measure and drive out losses to deliver targeted line results by providing coaching, support, direction and ongoing feedback
* Owns ALL shift results, with priority on safety
* Owner of shift Daily Directional Setting process, including shift to shift handover; ensure team creates robust planned stop, and each have clearly allocated roles and actions for delivering the results for the shift
* Help the team to identify, prioritize and drive out losses to maximize performance results
* Own assigned Daily Management System on the line
* Hold team members accountable to performance standards (safety, quality, job performance, master sanitation schedule, attendance, team effectiveness)
* Utilize one-on-one coaching and inform/engage your manager
* Support the platform annual and 90-day improvement plant to deliver the glidepath
* Work with your manager to plan and execute training for the team. Work with team members to develop and own individual training plans, build capability and provide flexibility for staffing
* Coordinate daily staffing across the shift and adhere to site standards around break-time, vacation scheduling, overtime management, absenteeism, etc.
* Own team effective and career coaching of the shift team and address gaps/concerns
* Foster an inclusive environment where people work together to solve problems
* Follow agreed upon escalation processes to ensure your manager is involved when required
* Continue to build your technical skills and leadership skills in role
* Cover technicians on the job for short-term absence

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be 18 years of age or older
* Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
* High School Diploma or GED
* Must have at least 3 years' manufacturing experience
* Effective written and oral communication skills
* Strong organizational and prioritization skills
* Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
* Demonstrated leadership capability to lead others
* Demonstrated problem-solving and technical understanding
* Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 50 lbs on a regular basis
* Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time, including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
* Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, daily overtime or overtime outside of your regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week)
* Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves when required
* Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
* Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
* Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
* Ability to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
* Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

* Mechanical and electrical capability and experience
* Previous manufacturing experience in a leadership role is preferred
