The Electric Power Division currently has an opening for an Energy Systems Engineer. This position can be based in Georgia or anywhere within the Southeast US Continental Region. As an Energy Systems Engineer you will serve as a consultant on energy systems projects as the divisional expert on all elements of a totally integrated power solution to meet customer electric power needs.

This assignment is that of an individual contributor who has demonstrated expertise in a specific business segment/industry and proven to be a top performer. This expertise will lend itself to developing integrated solutions and strategies for various customer segments.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

* Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and business judgment coupled with technical knowledge of genset, paralleling switchgear, genset controls, uninterruptable power supply, automatic transfer switch, photovoltaic, microgrid, energy storage, inverters, and packaging. Incumbents are gaining knowledge, recognition and expertise to influence response to customer requirements and deliver customized value-added power system solutions through the power systems life cycle.

* Incumbent will develop relationships with targeted Engineering and EPC firms in territory. Will maintain account and call plans utilizing Cat and partner resources to grown and maintain corporate relationships.

* Incumbent will work with the Cat Field Sales and Global Accounts teams on the relationship and management of large complex projects including influencing tenders, technical response and compliance.

* Incumbent will leverage technical and industry knowledge to assist Engineering firms in the creation and development of technical designs, drawings, specifications and integration strategies that best meet the customers needs with Caterpillar products.

*Individual will mentor and lead business partners to ensure thorough and adequate coverage of the Engineering community in the assigned territory.

* Incumbent will coordinate and lead technical sales seminars for partners and end users, will partner with development teams to create development guidelines to support external partners. Incumbent must remain abreast of technology and industry trends to advise product development leaders on potential opportunities for improvement.

* Ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences. Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar. Requires travel to understand regional or worldwide business conditions. Incumbent is developing expertise by interacting with government agencies, national associations, dealers and customer groups

* Responsibility of this position is sharing knowledge and experience as a contributor to support Caterpillar knowledge forums/databases, Product Definition teams, Electric Power Product groups, Cat dealer groups and others as assigned

* Responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

* Requires a college degree or 7-10 years of specific industry experience to gain recognition as a divisional and company expert in electric power industry and market

* Previous customer/dealer facing experience required

* Requires extensive travel >50%.

Top Candidates will also have:

* Technical knowledge of genset, paralleling switchgear, genset controls, uninterruptable power supply, automatic transfer switch, photovoltaic, microgrid, energy storage, inverters, and packaging.

* Should have broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge and excellent communication skills

* Must be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach, and/or persuade others on new methods of equipment application, new technology and distribution methods
