As the Senior Portfolio Manager for Paint, you will be working in conjunction with the Director of Portfolio Management and the Product Director of Paint is responsible for the development of the product strategy and execution for assigned paint categories across all sales channels in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. The product strategy will drive profitable growth of the product lines across all sales channels. The candidate will develop a thorough understanding of the key drivers of their category and product lines for the target market segments, gain insights on competitive products and their perceived value. The senior portfolio manager will be responsible for developing a comprehensive approach to the product offering that drives clear product positioning, alignment of the product assortment for features, cost, and the identification of opportunities to drive differentiation of the PPG product offering.

In addition, the role will interact with marketing and commercial excellence to guide and develop field communications for assigned categories/products with product content to help create sales support tools, product training, and website content to ensure clear product performance and differentiation. The desired candidate has a well-rounded product, technical, marketing, or sales experience. The portfolio manager will also have a strong background in problem-solving, project management, customer insights, portfolio management, innovation, and strategic leadership. The candidate will work closely with other portfolio managers and cross-functional partners including science and technology lab associates. The senior portfolio manager will gather and analyze data from multiple sources, making category recommendations for actions based on sales and margin performance. Candidates must have a proven record of accomplishment of influencing and coordinating activity with cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with all functions within an organization.

Key Responsibilities:

* Product Portfolio Management Develop product value propositions by product platform, review and leverage global projects for potential development, assist in financial product performance and product roadmap development. Ability to learn and gather data from multiple sources to understand and create actions based on category performance.
* Product Development Collaboration with technical lab associates to understand the viability of new technologies for the development of portfolio differentiation and drive prioritization of formula revisions and/or new product launches.
* Competitive Analysis Deep understanding of competitive product portfolio, new products, SWOT analysis, and competitive communications.
* New Product Launches Preparation and review of stage-gate and product launch documents/business cases, customer field trials, project management, label design, communications (with marketing) as well as label and finished goods management to minimize obsolescence costs.
* Product Lifecycle Management Assist in the development of criteria for the end of life cycle; perform analysis for the end of life candidates, decision and communication of products eliminated and replacement products.
* Execution Prioritize and manage multiple projects driving delivery of projects per published timelines. Work cross-functionally through all levels of the organization flawlessly executing product launches and other strategic initiatives.
* Communication - Assist Product Director with the interfacing, influencing, and driving alignment internally across key stakeholders including the PPG leadership team, marketing, account and sales team, R&D, and other cross-functional teams.
* Collaboration Proactive interaction with field sales teams to ensure a good knowledge and understanding of the product portfolio, positioning, and segment alignment.

Qualifications:

* The successful candidate is highly motivated and results-oriented.
* Candidate must have thorough product development/marketing knowledge, the capacity to work with technical details, project management skills, and be able to manage multiple product-related projects at one time.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization and with customers are required.
* Candidate must have knowledge of the marketplace, the ability to think strategically, and strong business acumen. Adhesive and sealant experience is a plus.
* 5+ years of product management/development, technical, marketing experience, and/or related experience within sales.
* Bachelors degree in, business, related technical field, or marketing are required. An MBA or advanced degree a plus.
