Description
The Coke Handling Operator is required to safely operate a bridge crane, crusher, stacker/reclaimer, front-end loader, and other associated coke handling equipment within the Refinery in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Applicants must take and pass a series of aptitude tests to verify qualifications.
Responsibilities May Include
* Monitoring controls for Coke Conveyor delivery and receipts
* Performing routine washing of coke spillage when not in the primary operation rotation
* Performing environmental and regulatory checks (eliminating, containing and reporting all product seeps and spills)
* Following all refinery policies and procedures
* Responding to emergencies, maintaining emergency equipment and participating in emergency response training and exercises
* Operate front end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and aerial lifts
* Completing mandated safety and regulatory training (computer-based & instructor led training)
* Monitoring controls of coke handling equipment
* Maintaining effective and professional relationships
* Performing equipment facility rounds; minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions
* Assisting transport driver with loading of coke material
* Performing Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work Permits, Excavation Permits, and Confined Space Entry permits for safe and effective execution of work
* Complying with Waste Management per local Environmental processes
Position Requirements
Basic/Required:
* Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent
* Maintain valid drivers license
* 18 years of age or older
* Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:
* To climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment
* To raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds
* To walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb (up to 200 ft in height), and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain
* To sit in and operate a bridge crane
* To work outside in harsh weather conditions
* To work near large, hot, high speed machines
* To wear personal protective equipment, such as flame-retardant clothing, eye protection, ear protection, steel-toed boots, hard hat, etc.
* To work a 12-hour rotating shift
* To work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays
Preferred:
* Associate degree or higher from trade school or other petroleum industry related degree
* 1 or more years of experience in the petroleum refining industry
* Prior experience operating front end loaders and skid steers
* Knowledge of P&ID drawings
* Knowledge of mechanical and rotating equipment
The Wood River Refinery is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
