Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Principal Quality Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Quality Engineer develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Provides technical solutions that support Quality Management System (QMS) functions on Department of Defense (DOD) programs. Utilizes customer and Northrop Grumman Mission Assurance policies and procedures, such as ISO 9001/AS9100, to help realize those solutions.
Works with the program management team to define, gather, evaluate, and effectively present process and quality metrics to assist with program efficiency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Ability to coordinate/collaborate with external quality teams in data gathering, problem solving, risk mitigation, and root cause corrective action.
Experience providing root cause analysis and presenting key metrics to Quality and Program leadership. Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and apply new processes/procedures. Serves as the QME representative on the program Material Review Board.

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor rsquo;s Degree in STEM area with 5+ years of related experience (3+ Years related experience with Masters)
* Strong written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management.
* Ability to coordinate customer communications across multiple, diverse sites
* Ability to work in cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues
* Strong presentation amp; communication skills
* Manufacturing or Quality Assurance Experience
* Trained and experienced in performing Root Cause Corrective Action
* Experience working with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications.
* Participate in corrective action boards using analytic techniques to identify trends in manufacturing
* Experience with SAP/MES/CADSTAR
* Ability to attain a Secret Clearance

* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years of related experience in supporting (3+ Years related experience with Masters; 0+ Years related experience with PhD.)
* Experience in planning and organizing activities across multiple manufacturing locations

* Record of increasing responsibility supporting manufacturing, electrical, and mechanical engineering organizations
* Experience in evaluating circuit card assemblies for workmanship issues
* Have experience in quality planning
* Mentor lesser experienced engineers on areas of manufacturing
