This Systems Engineering role is located in our Dulles, Va office. Successful candidates for this position will have substantial experience in the design, administration, and maintenance of Wide Area Networks. The candidate will have:
* Hands on experience with the daily operations, system deployment, configuration management and general use of virtualized environments (Hyper-V, VMware)
* Hands on experience of the management of Active Directory based domain environments, group policy configuration and application and integration of additional systems, to include Linux based operating systems.
* Implementation experience with and documentation of hardware and software hardening to comply with STIG guidance and with Risk Management Framework controls.
* Troubleshooting and fault isolation of IT business systems, networks and services and will ensure network availability to all system users.
* Experience with configuring storage appliances and the setting up of partitions or Logical Unit Number (LUN) devices.
This role serves as the lead technical point of contact for a major sub-contractor and provides day to day program management of that contract as the Cost Accounts Manager (CAM) for their work and schedule on a mixed development and operations contract.
Additional tasks/skills/expectations/experience:
* Maintain and administer Cisco IOS based network infrastructure.
* Configure and troubleshoot connectivity between local and TACLANE devices (KG-175D/G/X)
* Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
* Have prior experience in the selection, deployment, management, and use of Cross-Domain-Solutions within a secure Information System environment.
* Create install images of, deploy and preform in place upgrades of the DoD Secure Host Baseline
* Implement and configure security and monitoring tools, such as HBSS or ACAS.
* Implement, configure and execute OS and hardware reporting functions for data collection and maintain access logs and records using Graylog, Splunk or similar audit reduction tools
* Configure system data backups and disaster recovery planning and operations using BackupExec, Veeam or similar products.
* Schedule and perform necessary maintenance to support network and attached systems hardware and software
* Review user requests for upgrades or additions to the network, assess and address the impact to network or system performance
* Coordinate with configuration management teams and follow all established Information Assurance procedures for new or changes to existing hardware and software.
* Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
* Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking hardware and software and operating system software.
* Perform upgrades to existing network architecture or configure and implement new hardware.
* Prepare troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels.
* Analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommend procurement, removals, and modifications to network components and segments.
* Evaluate and recommend COTS applications and/or methodologies to provide scalable solutions.

Qualification
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor rsquo;s Degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 9+ years of experience, Master rsquo;s Degree and 7+ years of experience; or a PhD and 4+ years of experience.
* Direct customer and subcontractor interactions
* Managing Interface Compliance Documents / Interface Requirements Specifications
* Organizing and administrating engineering process control boards (ERBs, CCBs, FRBs, etc)
* Must be a US Citizen with an active or current Top Secret/SSBI and have the ability to obtain SCI level access.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Systems Engineering experience with requirements and interface documentation for network-based systems
* Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering using DOORS and SysML (Cameo Systems Modeler or equivalent)
* Background in Agile development and/or leadership
* DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certifications are required current and continually maintained
* Background in space-to-ground command and control environments
* Additional certifications are strongly preferred:
* Networking Certification: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or ITIL Foundations.
* Microsoft, current workstation or server OS certification, MCSA or higher
* Linux OS certification, RHCSA or higher
