The Non-Invasive Cardiology Registered Nurse / RN will Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act with emphasis on pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with cardiovascular diagnosis. Provide conscious sedation to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures (following competency verification). Monitor and intervene for patient during non-invasive studies, including trans-esophageal echocardiograms, bubble studies and cardiac sonography. Respond to emergencies in the non-invasive cardiology labs.

Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital are destination hospitals for highly specialized advanced cardiovascular and spine care. The new state of the art facility is conveniently located near Medical City Dallas across Hwy. 75 and Forest Lane. Medical City Heart Hospital has 63 private patient rooms and provide a wide array of cardiac services including complex vascular and heart surgery, advanced heart failure treatment, minimally invasive vascular surgery and other specialized heart care. The 24-bed Medical City Spine Hospital provides comprehensive and coordinated spine care for common spine disorders and rare, hard-to-treat spinal deformities including adult and pediatric scoliosis, spondylolistheses, complex spine surgery and minimally invasive surgical options among others.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
BSN Required within 24 months of hire into RN position
Minimum of 1-2 yrs of Cardiology procedural area or floor experience (Cardiac / CVICU)

Moderate sedation experience a must

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred
PALS Provider verification, preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Basic rhythm interpretation skills, with emphasis on rhythms with the potential to alter the patients hemodynamics
Monitoring for alterations in oxygenation/ventilation
Skillful in assessment and intervention for patient with cardiovascular disorders
