SCHEDULE: Full-time

Regional Medical Center of San Jose is a 264 bed acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital provides a host of technologically advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. County-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care.

SCHEDULE: 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week), SHIFT: Days with rotating weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Advanced Clinicals Educator/Specialist is part of the facility informatics resource team that is responsible for delivering the successful implementation, support and optimization of advanced clinicals. They are responsible for coordinating the completion of project assessments and assisting with the development of education/training materials. This individual participates in the facility-wide community for computerized provider order entry (CPOE), and works with the Director of Clinical Applications to ensure advanced computer clinical applications are well supported throughout the facility. This individual is accountable for and has the authority to make decisions to promote quality integrations of systems on a unit basis. They are expected to interpret and apply hospital policies and procedures, as well as Standards of Care in the provision and supervision of patient care using the nursing informatics processes. They are expected to provide coaching and mentoring, including corrective action as it related to the nursing informatics process. They are expected to participate in hospital wide leadership activities. Revisions to the job description and accountabilities may be required due to patient care needs and/or efficient operation of the hospital. You will be advised in writing of any changes. It is also understood that the job description is not all-inclusive and you may be required to perform other related duties.

Qualifications

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: Registered Nurse with current license

Preferred: BSN or BS/BA degree from an accredited school of nursing. Masters degree is a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum:

Preferred: Previous experience in informatics preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: ASN

Preferred: Bachelors or Masters degree

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

* Advance knowledge of Meditech documentation and order entry for all staff and providers.
* An understanding, enthusiasm and commitment to the goals of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Meaningful Use.
* Good problem solving skills, must have an interdisciplinary focus
* Demonstrates ability to establish and build strong relationships across a broad range of personality types.
* Effective organizational & leadership skills to assist with the direction of others and maintain a common vision for the project objectives, maintenance support and optimization initiatives.

Ability to be a strong motivator with the ability to enlist the cooperation and/or assistance of the team members and others.

* Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
* Understand pertinent regulatory guidelines such as TJC and HIPAA
* Demonstrated computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Demonstrated customer orientation and effective conflict resolution and recovery skills with providers and staff.
* Ability to prepare and deliver education with excellent teaching abilities.
* Demonstrates leadership skills and good communication skills.
