Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Takes vital signs on arrival and prepares patient for surgery or procedure and documents accurately.
* Assures call lights are answered promptly and patient needs are met.
* Proficient in venipunctures (appropriate site, less than two (2) sticks, minimum volume, etc.)
* Appropriately labels all specimens and assures delivery to Laboratory.
* Correctly performs EKGs and assures copy is sent to Cardio-Pulmonary Department.
* Safely transports patients to assigned room or to discharge vehicle.

Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED required. Graduate from a vocational/technical school preferred.
* Phlebotomy/EKG and Medical Assistant certification preferred.
* Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
* Date entry and specimen processing experience preferred. Knowledge of specimen handling preferred.
