VP of Nursing
Medical City Fort Worth
The Vice President of Nursing reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and shares administrative authority and responsibility for the practice of nursing and supports the mission, vision and values of Medical City Fort Worth and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. The V.P. Nursing has the authority and responsibility to promote, advocate and support the nursing staffs primary commitment to protect the health, safety and rights of the individual, family, or community. The Vice President of Nursing participates in formulating organizational policy; develops or reviews procedures essential to the achievement of objectives; develops, directs and insures the implementation of Standards of Nursing Practice and clinical services that promote optimum health care delivery. Under the direction of the CNO, the VP of Nursing is accountable for creating a system which fosters participation and collaboration, from all levels of staff, through clinical services in planning, implementing and evaluating standards to insure safe efficient and therapeutically effective health care.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Authority and responsibility to ensure that nursing staff participate in the design and provision of patient care according to the following functions:
* Lead, provide authority, accountability for and coordination of the nurse executive and clinical administrative functions.
* Define and support the hospitals mission, vision, values, goals and objectives by demonstrating concern for quality, patient safety, productivity and responsiveness by self and those managed.
* Plan, implement, revise and delegate nursing care with patient safety as the primary goal.
* Provide care/treatment/services within the theoretical framework of modeling and remodeling.
* Play an active role in advocating quality and patient safety.
* Promote recruitment, retention, continuing education, community involvement, and development of nursing staff members and evaluate the recruitment and retention program for clinical areas.
* Improve the quality of the products or services provided and implement methods to increase their efficiency and productivity.
* Support the hospitals mission, vision, values, and goals by demonstrating concern for quality, safety, productivity, and responsiveness in his/her work.
* Promote involvement of nursing staff in health promotion/educational community involvement, life time learning and nursing research.
* Support the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and promote the profession of nursing by articulating nursing values, maintaining the integrity of the profession and its practice and by striving to shape social policy.
Medical City Fort Worth is licensed for 320 beds and offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services in a wide range of specialties, including cardiac care, neurosciences, oncology, surgical services, orthopedics, kidney transplants and emergency care. Part of the Texas Stroke Institute stroke care network, Medical City Fort Worth is a designated comprehensive stroke center and a Joint Commission chest pain center. Designated Magnet* for nursing excellence, the facility is also a Blue Zones Project workplace.

Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Masters degree in nursing or related field, or other related post graduate degree, or plan actively in progress to complete same.
Licensure/certification/registration: Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted, National Specialty Certification preferred
Experience: 5 years recent and progressive management, 5 years administrative experience preferred
