Description

The Business Data Engineer is adept at working with business and systems partners to turn project requirements into technical specifications to build custom-formatted, fit-for-purpose reports, data sets, data services and data interfaces.

You will apply a strong knowledge of life-cycle data generation to be able to outline critical information, analyze business procedures and recommend specific types of data than can be used to improve them.

Primary responsibilities include:

* Assisting data consumers with questions on data usage and access, including use of various tools and capabilities when interacting with data content
* Understanding user requirements; Oversee Enhancements and Coordinate
* Understanding data inventory, lineage and ETL Job patterns
* Performing Business Process Support and SLA Monitoring through daily quality control reviews on mart data loads to surface production issues that may impact results
* Coordinating resolution to Production Problems and work with ETL support with re-running jobs; verifying resolution has been achieved
* Performing periodic security compliance reviews (e.g. user entitlement, service account confirmation)
* Producing consistent, accurate and complete data requirements and definitions for complex projects.
* Working with business users and others to understand their business functions and processes in order to help them define data / information requirements.
* Crafting data and metadata requirements for systems that are complete and unambiguous.
* Identifying and recommending new, innovative ways to streamline data-centric processes.
* Defining and managing test data sets for integration testing, problem analysis, business and technical analysis.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

* 2 years of data querying and profiling experience using SQL
* Expertise in working with various operating systems (Windows, Unix/Linux) and database management systems (Redshift, Oracle, MS-SQL, etc).
* Strong attention to detail
* Demonstrated communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively, take initiative and work as part of a team

Preferred Skills/Experience:

* Familiarity with AWS Technical Stack, including Glue, S3 and Redshift
* Experience with Base SAS
* Data design or data management experience is a plus.
* Experience with Agile process is preferred
* Experience in the financial services industry, especially banking.

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

* Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance/Economics or CS, Master degree in the above disciplines with strong data analysis skills preferred.

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30AM 5:00PM
