Job Description

The Northeast Leader will report to the Director of U.S. Community Relations and play a key role in catalyzing Citis societal impact in markets across the country. The Leader will engage and build partnerships with local community leaders and organizations to enhance our reputation, support Citi Foundation grant making, engage employees, and help fulfil Citis regulatory commitments. This role will be responsible for connecting Citis people, expertise, resources, products and services to help expand equitable opportunities for all.

In addition to regional geographic relationship coverage, the Leader will play an integral part in creating a unified Community Relations function across our U.S. footprint.

Key Responsibilities

* Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with Citi lines of business, Global Public Affairs and external NGOs, foundations, community advocates and corporate peers
* Administer charitable giving budget to facilitate convenings, thought leadership and innovation efforts with nonprofit partners to address critical community needs
* Manage small team of Community Relations Officers to create greater collaboration and coordination across geography covered
* Leverage resources across Community Investment and Development and the Citi Foundation in support of innovative and meaningful programs across the Citi footprint
* Maintain an understanding of Citi Foundation strategic areas in order to refer strong local partners aligned to focus, capitalize on employee volunteer opportunities, and support innovative and meaningful programs across the Citi footprint
* Maintain an understanding of Citis business operations, goals and objectives in order to set priorities for civic and community activities
* Identify opportunities to highlight Citis societal impact in local communities through local and national initiatives in coordination with the Community Investing and Development Impact and Insights team
* Demonstrate subject matter expertise in broad issues aligned to Citi priorities (e.g. racial equity, impact investing, philanthropy, municipal engagement, employee engagement, sustainability, etc.)
* Represent Citi at convenings, public events, community meetings and conferences, and other internal and external visibility opportunities

Job Skills

* 7+ years of experience in social sector, community relations or community development, preferably at a financial institution; familiarity with CRA a plus
* Experience representing an organization externally with demonstrated interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication, and superb listening skills
* Knowledge of nonprofit sector and existing relationships with community leaders and organizations in the region
* Strong history of collaboration, serving as a convener and connector
* Experience building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, including advocate groups, nonprofit groups and community agencies
* Experience managing regional funding and involvement in community endeavors that include convenings with key stakeholders, sponsorships, and volunteer activities
* Experience consulting and collaborating with senior leaders in various functional areas and working collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes
* Experience managing people either directly or indirectly to achieve a common goal
* Knowledge of how diversity, equity and inclusion are central to community development
* Strong project management experience with ability to simultaneously facilitate and track multiple projects and activities to completion
* Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Bachelors degree at minimum, advanced degree preferred
