The Director, Global Medical and Scientific Learning Excellence will develop, lead and implement rigorous global clinical and scientific product and disease state training for Global Medical Affairs. This industry-leading training and scientific education, for the Medical Organization, will include training tools, modules, role-based customized Training Plans and related content across multiple global therapeutic areas/products. She/he will Incorporate innovative training solutions and deliver robust global plans to engage Global Medical Affairs teams and ensure scientific expert excellence. Additionally, she/he will incorporate and apply adult learning principles and evidenced-based cognitive science in his or her learning designs.
She/he will be responsible for leading the planning for all global Medical scientific training activities (live bootcamps, virtual engagements, webinars, KOL-led training initiatives, and other ongoing scientific training initiatives) and collaborating and communicating with other stakeholders and Medical Excellence Teams on implementation and deployment.
She/he will also partner with the Scientific Content Directors to identify global scientific resources and tools needs aligned to scientific training; she/he will contribute to the ongoing development of Medical teams for the purpose of achieving and maintaining expert level scientific knowledge competencies aligned with the Global Medical strategy. She/he will also collaborate with Field Medical excellence to support Best practices and pull through on medical strategic plans. The scope of the role will include close collaboration with Therapeutic Area teams and the support of global MSL teams as needed, dependent upon role-specific Therapeutic Area.
This position is a new position within the Global Medical Content & Scientific Learning Excellence team to lead Global TA-specific scientific training.
Responsibilities
* Plans, develops, leads and manages Medical scientific and product training content, resources and strategy for core and enduring content and initial and continuous training in assigned therapeutic area.
* Develops and delivers scientific training content related to disease state, treatment landscape, and approved/investigational products in collaboration with Global leads. Educational materials and training initiatives include (but are not limited to) training modules, interactive learning modules, workshops, podcasts/videos/voiceovers, blended approaches, reinforcement tools, recordings and virtual learning and platforms.
* Responsibility for core content as well as ongoing and enduring scientific training related to new data, emerging products, and field tools.
* Advocates for the learner and incorporates his or her involvement throughout the learning design process. Responsible for exploring and incorporating innovative learning techniques and modalities to address business needs.
* Collaborates with other training functions (eg, Field Excellence, Global Learning) to ensure best in class training.
* Thinks critically and creatively when creating or assessing learning design, development, and delivery, as well as evaluating the impact of learning material or learning experience on behavior or business results.
* Independently provides an advanced level of strategic planning and development of scientific, clinical and product training resources and tools tailored for cross-functional Medical teams to ensure inclusion of most recent clinical/scientific data/information cross multiple global product portfolios.
* Solves problems related to development and effective deployment of role-based scientific training processes, including utilization of new and innovative approaches to engage diverse cross-functional teams.
* Maintains single platform approach to all medical scientific content to streamline timely and transparent access to teams. Explores the use of digital and virtual technology for building innovative scientific training and related communication strategies.
* Collaborates across Global Medical Affairs, including alignment within Medical Excellence, to ensure ongoing Global MSL Training and field resource content is aligned and consistent with medical strategy, as well as cross-functional internal groups (eg, USMA, Regulatory, OEC/Legal, BTS, Clinical Development)
* Partners with Scientific Director Content Lead to support Global MSL materials development in key competencies regarding disease state awareness, current treatment landscape, and new product clinical data, to ensure ongoing MSL training and field resource content is aligned and consistent with medical strategy as well as identified needs in field and global priorities.
* Partners with Medical in Areas and Affiliates to assess gaps and ensure training content and deliverables address prioritized Global needs
* Reviews literature alerts and competitive intelligence reports gathered at medical meetings to ensure global scientific training is current and ahead of scientific community
* Develops tailored scientific training plans and accelerated training approaches/modified content requirements for training a non-MSL Medical team member with diverse roles, in order to meet role-specific scope and depth of training needs
* Leads expanded support for scientifically rigorous training and ongoing development to global Medical team members for the purpose of achieving and maintaining expert level scientific knowledge competencies in multiple disease states and products
* Identifies unmet needs related to Global scientific training and develops strategy plans to address these needs that is aligned with overall Global Medical strategy
* Contributes to the Global strategic and tactical Brand and Medical plans as a partner in the Global Brand Team and the Global Medical Affairs Team
* Key stakeholders: Global TA Medical, Global Brand Teams, other Medical Operations teams and Global Medical Affairs functions as well as cross-functional internal groups (e.g., USMA teams, Regulatory, OEC/Legal, BT and Clinical Development).
Qualifications
Qualifications
* Education: Scientific / medical / clinical education required
* Advanced Degree: R.Ph., PharmD., Ph.D., R.N., M.D., required
* Experience: At least 8 years professional experience, including 5 years of previous MSL or related pharmaceutical industry experience, clinical experience highly preferred
* Strong knowledge of Pharma regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines and industry trends
* Strong scientific background, ability to critically review and analyze scientific data and literature, objectively, concisely and effectively distill, summarize and communicate key information
* Strong project management skills with a proven track record to deliver high-quality projects while meeting timelines
* Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and creative and strategic thinking
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and interface in a dynamic environment across departments
* Advanced PowerPoint skills required
* Experience with e-learning software and ability to create interactive content
* Excel knowledge and proficiency
