We have an exciting intern opportunity for an undergraduate bioinformatician or computational biologist to leverage linux shell commands with R programing to maintain and optimize semi-automated gene expression profile workflow from NCBI GEO and ArrayExpress microarray repositories. Work for this project will focus on public Affymetrix Mouse 430 2.0 gene expression microarrays which will be used in project tissue and disease model prioritization. This includes refining automatic quality control, automatic normalization, and automated single-sample gene set enrichment scoring to support project model prioritization.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
* Technical competency, especially recording hours and preserving work/code
* Strong communication skills, especially presentation of Power Point summary slide
* Fluency in relevant programming languages, especially R and linux shell, for the analysis of high-throughput gene expression transcriptomics, enrichment analysis, proteomics, metabolomics, and signaling network analysis
* Candidates with experience analyzing and interpreting gene expression data for understanding disease mechanisms and model organism prioritization are highly desired
* A background in analyzing and comparing fibrotic diseases and metabolic diseases across multiple tissues from affected patients and mouse models is highly desired
Minimum Qualifications:
* Minimum GPA = 3.0/4.0
* Returning to university for at least one semester
