The Impact Youll Make in this Role
As an Electrical Firmware Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

* Taking Responsibility for the design, development, and commercialization of new electronics hardware/firmware/embedded system products for 3Ms Connected Safety and Fall Protection businesses
* Creating the firmware architecture for new digitally enabled Personal Protective Equipment and other safety equipment that work in conjunction with the IoT cloud-based software and mobile applications.
* Leverage internal/external resources to meet project plans, timelines, and deliverables
* Helping to translate VOC and business goals into tangible product design and system requirements
* Staying current on relevant performance and regulatory standards such as intrinsic safety, CE marking, DOT, NIOSH, MSHA and others

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university
* Five (5) years experience in designing and developing electronics and/or firmware in private, public, government, or Military.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

* Proven leadership experience with hands on exposure designing wireless technologies and related device interactions, microprocessors, hardware design, firmware, sensors, electro-mechanical systems, design for electronics manufacturing
* Experience architecting firmware in a RTOS or OS systems using C programming
* Experience in the development of battery systems / battery powered devices
* Masters degree or higher from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
