The Systems Architect, Research & Development for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for architecting, designing, and building complex or large-scale, systems, ensuring that the components of the system are integrated and function holistically. The Systems Architect determines the overall structure of the system, organizes the interaction between components, and evaluates the influence of the technical architecture. This includes the breakdown of the system into components, the component interactions and interfaces (including with the environment and users), and the technologies and resources to be used in its design and implementation.

This position report to the Director of R&D Systems and HW Engineering and is part of the R&D technical team within the Hematology business unit located in Miami, FL. In this role, you will have the following opportunities:

* Work with customers and partners in order to determine the users evolving needs to generate the highest level of system requirements, based on constraints and roadmaps while maintaining the most current state and avoiding obsolescence
* Perform cost-benefit analyses to resolve whether requirements are best met by software or hardware functions and ensure that a maximally scalable, flexible, and extensible design is developed; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components
* Develop practices and processes to allocate all present and foreseeable requirements into discrete partitions that can be handled by a single engineer or team of engineers, and drive communication needs among partitions, and between the users and the system
* Generate a set of regulatory and acceptance test requirements, together with the designers, reliability, test, and verification engineers, and the users, which determine that all the high-level requirements have been met, including the user interface (UX)
* Be a key contributor to the technical roadmap, and technology evolution and integration, and champion innovation and continuous improvement in a collaborative environment

The essential requirements of the job include:

* Bachelors degree in Systems, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering fields
* Bachelor's with 9+ yrs experience OR Master with 7+ yrs of experience as well as technical leadership experience
* Experience implementing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with Machine Vision systems
* Has worked with IoT database and data analytics applications
* Scrum-based agile engineering skills including unit testing and test driven development

It would be a plus if you also possess the following:

* Systems Engineering Professional Certification (INCOSE)
* Experience developing products in FDA or other regulated environments
* Scaled agile skills using well-known approaches such as SAFe, LeSS, and/or DAD
